LIY (Learn it Yourself) on SlideShare

Network learning is a new phenemenon that has only been possible for the last decade. Students do not always need to come to class to learn how to use social media applications and how to utilize them to their maximum potential. They are tools that help to add value to the content, whether for business or social purposes.

The modern student can easily search for streaming videos on YouTube, Google, Vimeo and other sources, and is exposed to multitudes of information on the ''how to'' technique. This pupil only has to know that utilizing a certain technique is possible and with practice should be able to do it. The hardest part of network learning may be searching for the right video that best illustrates the process, and the ''right one'' may be a matter of personal preference.

I will use SlideShare, a site that is used to upload, view, and share presentations, as an example of network learning. It is also a site that I have never used before, so my group decided that this video best teaches how to use it.

The merits of the above video is that it is taught by an expert, David Hopkins, a learning technologist at Bournemouth University. He taught his students how to use SlideShare and because it is uploaded online everyone can access it. Mr. Hopkins explains how to use SlideShare within SlideShare, so this set up makes it extra easy to follow.

SlideShare is available in both LinkedIn and Facebook accounts, so it is easier for students and professionals to use these applications consecutively to build their personal brand!

The best part is that now I know how to use it and can share this information for social and professional means!

...And this is the real purpose behind network learning!
